Stretch ceilings are a canvas, which is pulled under the main ceiling.
For this product, demand in the market is constantly growing. Still, only it allows you to get a perfectly even surface above the head, can have absolutely any texture, and the installation is carried out in a maximum of a few hours.
The stretch ceiling began to be actively used in our country recently, so there is no clear classification in the form of GOST or other standards.
Based on the material of the canvas, two types of this product are divided: a fabric stretch ceiling and a film.
The fabric ceiling is a fabric canvas saturated with a special composition. This species is stronger, easily tolerates temperature changes, but the number of canvas tones offered by the manufacturer is much less.
More modern film ceilings are made of material, which has recently been used in many types of industry – PVC (polyvinyl chloride). The material combines relatively greater strength, plasticity, low cost and, like most artificial materials, a huge selection of textures. They can be matte, glossy, satin, suede and so on.
Film ceilings can be divided into two subspecies. These are hot installation ceilings and cold installation.
The second subspecies appeared relatively recently. This subspecies of stretch ceilings is simply pulled onto the frame from the fastener at room temperature, without heating the film. The technology is new and not yet sufficiently thought out. The film has a low stretch coefficient, and therefore it is easy to break. Although experienced specialists can conduct installation for only one or two hours. After which the room can be operated.
Traditionally, installation of film ceilings occurs by hot installation. PVC film fixed in the baguette is evenly warmed up using a heating device (“heat gun”). The film is pulled from high temperature, and after cooling it retains the shape.
The film is sold in the form of a strip of 1.5-2 m wide, therefore, in most cases, the ceiling is sewn from several lanes, which several affects the appearance. But in recent years, seamless options for film ceilings have appeared on the market.
In addition, some manufacturers use unique patented technologies. Therefore, not all of them are amenable to classification.
